Kayak Series names
To avoid any possible confusion about kayak models when looking at photos etc - all Neris hybrid folding kayaks (EG Smart / Smart PRO) have a Series logo on the front side deck and all Neris folding kayaks (Alu / Valkure) have a Series logo on the rear deck.
EG - you will only see "NERIS SMART PRO" on all three Smart PRO models

water is open to paddlers, some access points / rivers are privately owned

Longitudinal
frame members - Alu & Valkure Series kayaks
The stringer set is made of an anodized duralumin tube D16T
(DIN 2024), manufactured by “ALCOA” – a
leader in aluminum alloys. This robust type of alloy grade
is typically used in aircraft. |

Keel
bar - all kayaks
The keel bar is made of a profiled oval tube, 20 x 35mm. This
tube ensures enhanced stiffness against vertical bending.
Additionally,
due to the high profile of the tube (35mm), this ensures that
there is sufficient gap between the kayak skin and the cross
ribs
and other key frame members - to avoid potential damage to
the skin when hitting underwater objects. |

Washboard - Alu & Valkure Series kayaks
The washboard coaming is specially manufactured with a unique
profile designed by NERIS. This design is based on sailing
mast tracks and is used to grip the PVC deck securely to
the washboard. The washboard is easy to install, and also
provides structural strength and rigidity to the kayak
frame. |

Cross
ribs - all kayaks
NERIS uses two different types of cross ribs:-
- Alu Series kayak cross ribs are made
of duralumin tube D16T, diameter 18mm, with stainless
steel stringer supports.
- Smart Series cross ribs
are made
of duralumin tube D16T, diameter 18mm
- Valkure Series kayak cross ribs are made
of 11 layer laminated moisture proof birch plywood
typically used in the yacht-building industry. The cross
ribs are treated with
a special impregnation 1st coat, and then is coated with
three layers of marine varnish made by Tikkurila (Sweden).
The aesthetic look and natural warmth of wood are the key
features of NERIS kayaks.

Seats
Since the spring of 2008, all NERIS kayaks are fitted with
inflatable seats "Airseat".
These seats have been highly regarded by our clients. The
seats feature straps on the underside for reliable and secure
attachment to the keel bar of the kayak, and also has
side straps with provision for back rest
tilt adjustments. Additionally,
the inflatable
seats double up as buoyancy 'tanks' ensuring unsinkability
of the kayak.
The seats
are made of abrasive resistant PVC fabric and the twist valves
on the ends of the inflation tubes are made by Halkey-
Roberts (USA).

Skin
The kayak skin is made of two different grades of PVC fabric
- a density of 1050gsm for the hull, and 620gsm for the
deck.
These high-quality marine grade PVC fabrics are
made by
Mehler (Germany).
The hull has profiled rubber protector
strips fitted along all of the chines that are formed
by the stringers and keel bars. This serves to protect
the
PVC
skin itself when bumping or scraping against underwater
objects
The deck and hulls are available in various colors,
with the hull being available in black or cream, and
the deck in red, orange, yellow, blue, light blue, olive
green and grey as standard. Other
deck and hull colours are available on special request.
The
fabrics,
threads
and protectors
used in the
manufacture of the kayak skins are all resistant to moisture,
fungi and other aggressive factors.
