Kayak / Canoe
A faster version of the Smart-2. A very innovative foldable boat that can be used as a kayak or as a canoe! Also the boat can be used as a double seater or as a single seater kayak. This hybrid paddles faster than typical inflatable kayaks/canoes, and is more stable than folding kayaks.
Features
The "NERIS
Smart-2 Pro" has a aluminum longitudinal keel and cross rib frame
pieces with brackets made of stainless steel, which significantly improves
the kayak's reliability, strength and endurance. The boat skin is one piece as with all folding kayaks - the hull being the same as in typical folding kayaks. Only the side walls are inflatable as in inflatable kayaks. This boat can be used
as a stable single seater kayak, with the seat centrally positioned.
Two different types of seats can be used - the standard inflatable floor seats (same as supplied with the Neris folding kayaks), or canoe type wood bench seats.
For rough off-shore conditions, the upper frame "washboards" can be assembled to provide more rigidity.
There are optionally available thigh straps which assists with kayaking. Cross ribs also act as foot braces.
There are fittings available to hold the Neris Genaker downward sail rig. The A framed mast folds flat onto the top of the deck
and can be easily raised into the upright position by pulling on the rear stay.
The hybrid comes standard with one 100 x 55 x 25cm backpack but should you plan to travel on planes, then you can request to have two compact backpacks weighing approx 8 and 12kgs respectively.
Design
The "NERIS Smart-2" has a hybrid design, being part folding kayak and part inflatable kayak. The boat is very easy to assemble, with the frame members essentially reinforcing the 'inflatable kayak'. The frame is made of high quality D16T grade
anodized aluminum tubing. The skin is made entirely of durable PVC which does
not absorb water, so after a paddle, simply wipe with a dry cloth and
the kayak is ready to be packed. The
cross ribs in the cockpit area are of the open design, which means you
can sit anywhere within the cockpit.
The kayak / canoe will still remain afloat should one or both inflation chambers deflate as the side walls are held up by the cross ribs, allowing for time to return to shore.
Should the spray-deck be attached at the time, there will be little water ingress if at all.

Crew
Number of seats - two adults, or optionally solo paddler. The standard
spray cover has 2 cockpit holes, and comes complete with 2 skirts and
2 cockpit covers. There is a solo paddler variant spray cover available
- the cockpit hole is positioned centrally.
